It’s happy to inform you next Asian Theatre WG IFTR Colloquium will be held in Jaipur, India, 18 -19 February, 2017. One of our colleagues, Ravi Chaturvedi kindly will be a host professor of the colloquium. The theme is "Travel and Displacement in/with Asian Theatre." This is connected with the theme, the tradition of Traveling Theatre, of Indian Society of Theatre Research this year, as Ravi suggests. Some years ago we held the meeting on the theme of Inter-Asian theatre, it was in Munich 2010, it’s really exciting meeting. We could well discuss an Inter Asian-ness on this theme and some indian scholars would be easy to join us. Ravi suggested to try to join from Nepal, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Srilanka.

Professor Ravi is Director of School of Journalism & Mass Communication, Faculty of Arts and Law, Maniple University, Jaipur, Dehmikalan, INDIA. They say that the venue, Maniple University, is one of the most beautiful universities in the country. Ravi will arrange our all accommodation of 3nights. 3 time food, airport pick and drop, tea breaks, city tours and etc. All these are inclusive, it will be not costed more than 160-175 USD at the higher side. And also little cheaper arrangement would be. The university is little away, around 25 KM from city centre but a beautiful place. February is generally the end of tourist seasons, so some fertility will also be visible, they say.

So, if you would like to present a paper at the colloquium, please send the abstract of the paper together with a brief CV to conveners, Mitsuya and me, by the end of October. The papers will be circulated to the members of Asian Theatre WG to be read before the colloquium. Each paper is expected to be no more than 4,000 words.

Those who want to participate in the colloquium without presenting papers will be welcome as well. In the case please send its Email to conveners by the end of October, too. This is because booking accommodation and foods preparation.

Other necessary information will be sent later. If you have any inquiries, don’t hesitate to write to the conveners.

With best wishes,

Yasushi Nagata, Convener
